Traditionally, the Human Resource function has been responsible for administrative issues relating to employees and workers, the primary focus being compensation, benefits and industrial relations. Today, however, the global prototype for a new generation of Talent Management leaders points to an executive who sees human capital is the scarcest and most critical resource of a company and plays a strategic role in managing this resource and hence, in shaping corporate destiny.

IMA India’s research finds that winning companies across the world are looking for Human Resource leaders that are willing to take on the responsibility for conceptualising, not merely executing, change initiatives across the organisation, and developing the next generation of talent across all levels of hierarchy. Equally, they must have fluency in the financial language spoken by the operational side of the business.

The creation of the India Chief Human Resources Officers’ Forum is based on the recognition of the transitioning role of the human resource management professional. It seeks to provide platform for India’s senior-most human resource professionals to engage with each other to exploit the power of collective wisdom. It is the Forum’s mandate to work with its members to define the changing role of the HR function – and indeed, to play an active role in helping them cope with their growing responsibilities. For the Chief Human Resources Officer, the most crucial business partner is the CEO himself. With this in mind, IMA’ Chief Human Resources Officers’ Forum will not be limited to interaction amongst only heads of Human Resource Development, but will also include, selectively, engagement with the CEO community to receive leadership perspectives.

The Forum will, through the medium of closed-door interactive sessions with peers, experts and business leaders, enable members to focus on critical issues facing their function. To maintain the ongoing seniority and relevance of the peer group, membership to the India Chief Human Resources Officers’ Forum is by invitation only and limited to the senior-most executive in the HR function.
