The impending enactment of the PDP Bill, a data protection law, promises to fundamentally change the operating regime for nearly every business in India. This will have profound implications requiring changes to everything from digital and social media marketing strategies to cross-promotions, big data analytics and even business operations. The full scope of the law is wide ranging and incorporates a number of complexities that need to be carefully understood. To suitably cover the vast scope of the subject, IMA India recently hosted a half-day online event, spread over two sessions with a break in between. The first one covered the basic concepts in the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 while the second examined their consequences and implications for businesses.
